Noëlla, mentor and PE teacher, about her passion for education and making an impact in the classroom
Noëlla is a mentor and PE teacher at Portus Meridiem, but above all, a passionate impact maker. Her work goes beyond just teaching; she truly wants to make a difference for her students: “I want my students to feel seen and to get the best out of themselves.”
What do you find important to teach your students?
“I find it especially important to show students that they are capable of making a real positive impact. The relationship I build with them is of utmost importance to me. What I really enjoy is seeing how uninhibitedly they can express themselves and how they discover their own strengths.”
“It’s incredibly beautiful to see them grow”
How did you experience the Take Over?
“I thought it was a fantastic experience and would love to see this happen more often throughout the year. The energy I saw during the Take Over was contagious, because the students were highly motivated and truly enjoyed creating impact. In the afternoon, I taught a lesson about health, which I found very accessible, partly due to the clear presentation and the use of videos to keep the students’ attention.”
What do you think the students will take away from this day?
“The students not only broadened their perspectives, but also learned how important perseverance is, especially when facing setbacks. What I really loved was how the students supported each other. It was a lesson in not giving up, even when things get tough.”
What did Young Impact bring to you?
“Young Impact definitely brought inspiration, relieved our teachers in organizing this day, and created a strong connection. It was clear that Young Impact truly understood not only the teachers but also the students. They created a safe environment in which the students could express themselves and make an impact. Additionally, the organization was really on the same page with both teachers and students.”
“Young Impact created an environment in which the students could express themselves and make an impact”
Conclusion: An inspiring day
“All in all, the Take Over was an inspiring day that greatly contributed to the development of the students. It was fantastic to see how the students turned their own ideas into actions.”
“They really went for their goals and made a difference”
