Personalized learning
At Portus Meridiem, every student receives personal attention and the opportunity to get the best out of themselves.
We see that not every child gets equal opportunities. Traditional education often focuses on averages, while every child is unique. That’s why we choose an approach that sparks curiosity and encourages personal responsibility.
Our personal system matches the talents and needs of each child. Because children need more than just subject knowledge. This requires a different way of looking, thinking, and acting. Watch the video below for more explanation.

A personal learning goal coach
Once a week, you start at 8:15 AM with coaching. During this session, you discuss your goals for the coming week with your coach and reflect on the goals you worked on in the past week. You look at what went well and what could be improved. Together, you determine your personal learning objectives and make agreements about the steps you will take to achieve them.

Our school has a Christian foundation, but is open to everyone, regardless of background. With us, everyone belongs!
We offer tailor-made education
With us, students start in a mixed mavo-havo & havo-vwo bridge class. We offer personalized education. The focus of our education is on the student themselves. This way, we provide education at the level that best suits each student.
Students follow their own learning path and are challenged to get the best out of themselves. We offer instructions and assignments at different levels. For each subject, the student receives explanations and exercises that match his or her level. The student determines this level together with his or her coach.
Whether a student progresses through the material more quickly or needs more time, both are possible with us.
A day at Portus Meridiem
Every school day, you start your learning activities at 9:05 AM. You will have varied lessons in which you receive explanations, work together, or work independently on the lesson objectives. The lessons last 50 minutes, but occasionally we have special days, such as a study afternoon. On those days, lessons are 40 minutes long.
Books énd laptop
At Portus Meridiem, we believe it is important that you learn in the right way. This means that with us, you can work from books and on your laptop. This way, you can alternate your learning, in the way that truly suits you for that day. The best of the digital and paper worlds is available to you.
