About Portus Meridiem
Your primary school years are almost over. It’s time to choose a secondary school. Are you looking for a school that encourages you to get the best out of yourself? Then come to Portus Meridiem in Rotterdam-South. At our school, you can follow mavo (theoretical track), havo, and vwo (atheneum).
With us, personal attention for every student is central. We really take the time for you, so that you feel safe and comfortable. That’s why you get your own learning goal coach who will look at your learning goals together with you. Every week, you discuss with your coach which subjects are going well and which ones you still want to work on. This way, you determine your personal learning path together!
We are an open Christian school. This means that we are a school with a Christian foundation, but everyone is welcome, regardless of background. You truly belong here!
We are Portus Meridiem
The name ‘Meridiem’ comes from Latin and means ‘midday’. Meridiem is a time indication often used to distinguish between the two halves of the day: a.m. (ante meridiem) and p.m. (post meridiem). At 12:00 noon, the sun is at its highest point. That is when its rays are the strongest and the light is the sharpest.
At Portus Meridiem, we put you in the spotlight. We accept you as you are, because we believe that you are unique. We take the time for you. Whatever you need, at Portus Meridiem we make sure you are seen.
A personal learning goal coach
Every week, you discuss with your learning goal coach how things are going at school. What went well and what could be improved? Together, you determine your personal learning goals and make agreements about which steps you will take to achieve them. This way, you set your own pace and level that suits you.
Learning by doing
In the subject Research & Design (R&D), you mainly learn by doing. Throughout the school year, you work on challenging and educational projects in which you are actively engaged. Of course, you also collaborate with your classmates. This way, you discover where your interests and talents lie and learn to further develop them.
